King Horace

Horace stood, a gentleman perplexed,
looking from within his kingdom.
His mind, uneasy and greatly vexed,
contemplating his Subject’s freedom.

Because Horace, an uncomplicated man
had learned that very morning
of a fiendish and a dastardly plan,
to usurp and overthrow him.

He donned a crown that auspicious date,
as well as his impressive sword,
standing confidently, facing his fate
he addressed the mighty horde.

The feelings he spoke, from deep within
so enthralled that mighty throng
that, defeated, the pull out did begin
to be later, recounted in song.

What was the sentiment, bravely expressed?
What gesture held so much sway?
It was presented by a man distressed,
then lost until this day.

With his feelings shown, in open hand,
he kneeled and kissed the ground,
then, prostrate lay, he embraced the land
the respect echoed silently round.

So when you wake to face the day
and your worries are a-building,
don humility and address the fray,
in a way that shows your caring.

I like the way you did this poem in a kind of old-fashioned story form (ballad-like) and gave it a nice moral at the end.

Good work! I can't believe you just woke up with this in your head :D
